Orthodontics (Braces)
Orthodontics is a specialty within dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial abnormalities. It involves the use of braces, retainers, and other devices to correct misaligned teeth and jaws and to improve the function and appearance of the teeth and mouth. Orthodontic treatment can be used to address a variety of issues, including crooked or crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, and facial imbalances. Orthodontic treatment is usually recommended for children and adolescents, but it can also be effective for adults. The goal of orthodontic treatment is to improve the patient's oral health, function, and appearance, and to prevent future dental problems.
Dental braces are used to treat improper alignment of teeth. Apart from aligning teeth, braces treatment helps to restore function, better hygiene and aesthetics including the person’s bite. Braces treatment helps in preventing tooth cavities and gum diseases which commonly occur in case of malalignment. There are different types of braces like Metal braces, Ceramic braces, Lingual braces and Clear aligners.
Retainers are very crucial after braces treatment to prevent the teeth from relapsing to their original position. Three basic types of retainers are available.
Mouthguards are recommended for all contact sports. This ensures that your teeth and smile stay intact in case of an accident to your face during the game.
Night guard covers the biting surfaces of teeth and can be worn on either the bottom or top set of teeth. Its aim is to protect the surfaces of teeth from grinding against each other. Prevents teeth damage, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and Chronic Headaches.
Anti-snoring device consists of one splint for the upper jaw and one for the lower jaw. It counteracts the narrowing of the respiratory tracts. The velocity of the inspired air decreases and so do noise-generating vibrations of soft tissues.
